No apples? No worries. Strawberry crumble will more than suffice.
Adapted from this recipe, I made the crumble with the following tweaks:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg, beaten
3 tablespoons butter, melted
For the strawberry filling, I heated up:
1 tablespoon butter
~ 3 cups sliced strawberries
5 tablespoon strawberry jam (I was going to use butter until I remembered I had a huge tub of strawberry jam – why not!)
I’m letting it cool (before baking) and putting it directly in the freezer, going to freeze it with the topping uncooked. Then when I’m ready to serve last minute dinner plans, I can take it out and put it in the oven. Mmm… smells yummy!
